The fonds contains a diary written by Jim Thorton Saunders during his service as a Navigator for the RAF during the Second World War. The diary covers the periods of January to July of an unknown year - potentially 1942 or 1943) during Saunders’ training with the RAF in England. A transcription of the journal is available upon request.

Contains artifacts and documents pertaining to John Joseph Walsh from Bassano, Alberta and Lawrence Bruce Thistle from St. John's Newfoundland. These include photographs, pilot's licenses, and war time documentation. Walsh served in 261 SQDN. He was Killed in Acion 2 March, 1942 in Malta. Thistle served in 427 SQDN. He was Killed in Action 13 June, 1944.

Includes letters between Evelyn Effnert from Toronto, Ontario and John during his service overseas, as well as a Red Cross Knitting Instructional booklet issued during the Second World War, detailing knitting instructions for every day items such as socks and toques.

Contains a series of letters written to family member's during John Sheridan's time at Stalag Luft 3 as a Prisoner of War. The letters go from 1942 until his release in 1945. One postcard included was written during the First World War by a Sheridan family member who was serving overseas. His direct connection to John is unknown. Contains a series of documents and one journal belonging to Pilot Officer Kenneth Laverne Cannings during his service in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 until 1944. The collection includes a journal written by Cannings, detailing his experiences overseas during his training in Bournemouth, Hooton Park, Wellesbourne, Dalton, and Dishforth. A few photographs and documents are also included. Cannings passed away 9 May, 1944 during a bombing raid over Belgium. A transcription of the journal is available upon request.
